Teaching inquiry- the start of the journey

I met with my critical friend today to discuss how our personal inquiry is going and the next steps.

So far I have established and refined my inquiry question  -

How can I raise students motivation and engagement towards independent reading in order to raise achievement levels.

My next steps will be -

• read through the book 'The book whisperer" by Donnalyn Miller.
• start taking copies of the covers of texts and create blurbs about the books, for recommendations for students.
• incorporate book selling as a writing activity. When children have finished reading a book they enjoyed they can create a book promo to be added to a file in class.
